Types of Semiconductor

Types of semiconductors

1)  Intrinsic(pure): A semiconductor which is extremely pure is called intrinsic semiconductor. In intrinsic semiconductor two most important semiconductors are Germanium and Silicon

2)  Extrinsic(impurity): Certain amount of desired impurity is added. The process of adding impurity to pure semiconductor is called Doping

Two type of impurity

1)  P-Type semiconductor

2)  N-Type semiconductor

P-Type semiconductor

When a small amount of trivalent impurity is added to the pure semiconductor P-Type is formed

N-Type semiconductor

When a small amount of Pentavalent impurity added to the Pure semiconductor N-Type formed
